Other uses of Silver on humans
Flamazine is a dressing that is applied to patients with severe burns.
Flamazine consists of a white hydrophilic cream containing micronised silver sulphadiazine 1% w/w in a semi-solid oil in water emulsion. Other ingredients include glycerol monostearate, polysorbates, cetyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol and purified water.
Indications
Flamazine is used for the prophylaxis and treatment of soft tissue infections in a variety of wound types. It is specifically indicated for burn wounds, as an aid to the short-term treatment of infection in leg ulcers and pressure ulcers, and as an aid to the prophylaxis of infection in skin graft donor sites and extensive abrasions. It is also used for the conservative management of finger-tip injuries where pulp, nail loss and/or partial loss of the distal phalanx has occurred.

What is Colloidal Silver?
A colloid is a liquid that holds ultra-fine particles of a substance in suspension in a liquid. In other words the substance (in this case silver) does not dissolve, but stays suspended – distributed evenly throughout the liquid. The particles in a true colloid are very, very small and invisible to the naked eye.
20th Century Developments
In 1901 Albert Barnes and a Prussian chemist named Hille discovered a method of combining silver with a vegetable protein. The product was a dark liquid, highly sensitive to light, that had to be packaged in dark glass bottles, Patented as Argyrol, it was the only non-toxic antibiotic on the market at the time. It was widely prescribed for over 50 years because the antibiotic drugs often produced major allergic reactions.
In the early twentieth century several papers on silver appeared in the Lancet and the British Medical Journal, describing “the new departure” of the successful use of silver colloids in many medical applications, including septicaemia and puerpal fever, inflammation and the healing of lesions.
Up until 1938, when modern antibiotics were introduced, silver was administered in almost every way that modern drugs are used today. It was injected both intravenously and intramuscularly, used as a gargle for throat conditions, applied as a douche, taken orally and applied topically even for sensitive tissues, and dropped into the eyes.
Although the use of silver in medicine was in decline for the 1940s, it began to make a comeback in the 1970s when Dr Carl Moyer, chairman of Washington University’s Department of Surgery received a grant to develop a better treatment for burn victims. Chief biochemist, Dr Harry Margraf, worked with Moyer and others to find an antiseptic strong enough, yet safe enough, to use over large areas of the body. They reviewed 22 antiseptic compounds before trying silver. Today silver is being used in 70% of the burn centres in America.
Other Antiseptic Uses of Silver
In Russia silver is used to sterilise recycled water aboard space shuttles. NASA also selected a silver/water system for its space shuttle. Internationally, many airlines use silver water filters to guarantee passenger safety against water-borne diseases such as dysentery. The Swiss government has approved use of such silver water filters in homes and offices.
Silver has been used in wound healing for many years now and is incorporated into bandages to speed up healing.
Possible Applications for Colloidal Silver
How does the performance of colloidal silver compare with antibiotic drugs?
Any single antibiotic has the power to kill perhaps half a dozen different disease organisms. Silver, by comparison, is reported to kill a great many more different microbes, including 117 different types bacteria so far tested, and many viruses, fungi (e.g. Candida albicans) and parasites.

Asthma : Several people have reported that silver solution taken orally can stop asthma attacks. One individual who reported that he has suffered from asthma since he was five years old and was taking bronchodilators six times a day, said that he started taking colloidal silver solution for a deep chest cough and was surprised when after about 10 days his asthma attacks completely ceased. He then stopped taking the solution to see if it really was the colloidal silver that helped his asthma. The asthma recurred after 3 days. When he restarted the silver the asthma improved again.
Athletes Foot: Apply Silver gel onto cleaned infected area and let dry, patients reported rapid recovery.
Burns and Cuts: Silver Shield gel and liquid greatly increase the recover from burns and cuts. One little girl had splashed scalding oil on her face and had a large burn area. Her mother applied the colloidal silver solution directly onto the burn twice daily and left it wet with the solution for 15-20 minutes. The girl showed an 85%-90% recovery within two weeks. Six months later, there was virtually no visible scarring on the girl. Vitamin E cream will also help with scars and post op scars.
Candida albicans and Yeasts: Not only has colloidal silver been shown to kill harmful bacteria, but in recent test work, it was shown to inhibit the growth of yeasts as well. When taking colloidal silver for a Candida overgrowth, a probiotic supplement should be taken at a separate time of the day (ideally leave two hours in between).
Cold Sores and Herpes simplex: Apply Silver Shield gel to cold sores and herpes outbreaks three times a day. Silver Shield liquid can be taken internally 1 x 5ml three times a day to kill off the Herpes simplex virus. This can take quite a while but we know of people who tell us that they no longer have Herpes outbreaks.
Mouth Sore: Use 1x 5ml of Silver Shield liquid in a small glass of water. Swill around the mouth for as long as possible and swallow. Repeat three times a day. Noticeable improvements observed within 24hours. You can also apply Silver Shield gel directly to mouth sores.
Dandruff: Apply Silver Shield liquid solution directly to the scalp, morning and evening, for one week.
Ear Aches: Most ear infections are caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or H. Influenzae bacteria. Colloidal silver has been shown to kill both organisms in laboratory studies. Patients suggest lying down with the affected ear upwards and placing 5-7 drops in the ear. Noticeable improvements has been reported in as little as 4-24 hours, when remaining in this position for a minimum of ten minutes, preferably for at least 30 minutes, two or three times per day. Silver Shield gel can also be applied directly into the ear.
Enema: Colloidal silver can be added to douches and colonic enemas.
Eye Infections: The US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has reported that silver is neither an eye nor a skin irritant. Drip a few drops of silver solution into the eye or apply silver gel onto the eye, 2 or 3 times a day to combat infection. Good results have been reported within 1-3 days.
Flu: Patients report that, provided one takes the colloidal silver at the onset of the ‘flu, noticeable improvement has been reported in one to three days. If the ‘flu has become entrenched in the body, improvement is slower. Hold the solution in the mouth (gargle, if possible) for three to five minutes before swallowing. Continue with 1x 5ml teaspoon full 3 times a day until symptoms cease.
Food Poisoning: In laboratory tests colloidal silver rapidly kills the six types of bacteria that commonly cause food poisoning. Reports recommend drinking three teaspoons of solution at the onset. Continue with 1x 5ml teaspoon full 3 times a day until symptoms cease. Positive results have been reported in as little as 10 minutes.
Fungus Infections of the Feet: It is recommended to file the shine off the toenail to increase porosity and then apply silver gel directly on to the infected toenail. Repeat 2–3 times daily. Silver liquid can also to be taken 1 x 5ml teaspoon full 3 times daily. Results have been seen within 2 to 4 months.
Inflammation of the Joints: We have had feedback from customers to say that when they have applied silver gel to aching or swollen joints, they have noticed a reduction of inflammation in their joints.
Insect Bites: Excellent results have been reported using colloidal silver to alleviate the burning and itching of insect bites and stings. Relief from a multitude of different bug bites have been reported including mosquitoes, spiders, hornets and red ants etc. Apply Silver Shield gel onto the affected area for 10-15 minutes ,as frequently as required. Good/excellent results have been reported in as little as a few minutes.
Laryngitis: Gargle with at least 1 teaspoon of Silver Shield liquid, 3-4 times per day. Swallow the silver liquid. Relief within two to three days has been reported. If the laryngitis is accompanied by a sore throat, see section on “sore throat”.
Mastitis: Nursing mothers may be hesitant to take antibiotics while nursing their babies. It has been reported that taking one teaspoon of Silver Shield liquid, four times a day, has cleared up mastitis in two days. Alternatively, Silver Shield gel could be applied onto the breasts.
Nappy and other Rashes : Mothers report that for nappy rash, apply the affected area with Silver Shield gel at each change, leaving damp and putting on the new nappy brings big improvement, in most cases within 24 hours. For other skin irritation and rashes, apply to the affected area and leave for at least five minutes, 2-3 times per day, has shown results.
Sinus Infection : Silver Shield gel can be inserted into the nostrils, 3-4 times a day using a finger or cotton bud, which should help deal with the infection side of sinusitis. To end the misery of sinusitis practise “oil pulling”.( Refer to youtube video)
Skin : Colloidal silver may be administered topically by applying the silver gel to scrapes, warts, open sores, skin cancers, eczema, mosquito bites or other skin problems.

Reports indicate noticeable improvement with 12-48 hours when taking 1-2 tablespoons, gargling for 4-5 minutes, and then swallowing, two or three times a day.
